Corecell™ I

Reliable. Balanced. Versatile.

Structural SAN foam core for wide variety of applications

Gurit Corecell I is a general-purpose structural SAN foam designed to deliver reliable performance across a wide range of applications. Combining well balanced mechanical properties, thermal stability, and ease of processing, it is the versatile choice for cost-efficient yet high-quality sandwich construction.

Corecell I is ideal for various marine vessel components, as well as industrial applications such as lightweight aircraft components, modular vehicle tracks, and any application where PVC may be considered.

Key Benefits of Corecell I

Balanced strength and toughness

High shear modulus and excellent compressive performance provide stiffness and stability without compromising toughness – ideal for panels under in-plane or compressive load

Lightweight and efficient

Superior compressive modulus x shear modulus ratio helps stabilise lighter skins, reducing overall structural weight and cost while maintaining strength

Low resin absorption

Fine, homogeneous cell structure ensures low resin uptake for lighter laminates and improved cost efficiency

Thermally stable and durable

Excellent long-term thermal stability supports a wide processing window and consistent performance over time

Easy to machine and handle

Low dust generation, and fast cutting speeds extend tool life and enhance processing efficiency compared to PVC foams

Versatile formats and finishes

Available with all standard Gurit finishes and in larger sheet sizes than other core materials for efficient nesting and kitting

Processing and Compliance

  • Compatible with epoxy, polyester, and vinyl ester resin systems.
  • Processes include infusion, hand lamination, and thermoforming.
  • Available in sheet or pre-cut kits, with standard finishing options for maximum flexibility in production.
  • DNV, ABS and Lloyd’s Register approved. (BV and IRS certifications in progress.)
  • Available in the Americas and EMEA regions.
