Kerdyn™ PET

Recycled Structural Foam Core for Wind

The perfect balance of strength, stiffness, and sustainability

Manufactured from up to 100% recycled PET, Kerdyn PET core is ideal for sandwich construction in wind turbine blades, increasing stiffness, reducing weight and enhancing durability. A thermoplastic core with consistent mechanical performance, design versatility and a sustainable product profile, it is the core of choice for next-generation wind blades and nacelle components.

Durable and thermally stable in challenging conditions, recycled Kerdyn PET helps wind turbine OEMs meet ambitious sustainability goals without compromising performance or reliability.

Sustainability at Scale

Gurit’s Kerdyn PET core supports the wind industry’s transition to carbon-neutral production. Made from up to 100% recycled post-consumer PET bottles (guaranteed minimum 50%) , Kerdyn PET offers up to 65% lower CO₂ emissions compared to conventional foam cores. Through a closed-loop recycling system that reuses PET waste from our own operations, Gurit gives new life to everyday plastic waste – recycling nearly 1 billion bottles annually – transforming it into structural materials that power renewable energy.

Key Features of Kerdyn PET

Sustainable

Made from up to 100% recycled PET, annually saving thousands of tons of post-consumer plastic from landfill

High shear and compressive strength

Ideal for structural areas such as shear webs and blade shells

Reliable fatigue resistance

Maintains integrity under long-term cyclical loads

Closed cell structure prevents decay

Through preventing moisture ingress and freeze-thaw damage

Low resin uptake

Lower blade weight and cost – plus a Lite version available for further savings

Excellent machinability

For accurate cutting and shaping by blade manufacturers – or provided by Gurit in kit form

Processing and Compliance

  • Can be used with epoxy, polyester, and vinyl ester resin systems.
  • Compatible with all major blade manufacturing methods: vacuum infusion and RTM, prepreg, wet lamination, and thermoforming.
  • A smooth surface finish is optimized for bonding and skin lamination.
  • Surface finishing options to provide more flexibility in shaping and improve processing performance are available upon request: pinholes, cuts, grooving or scrimmed.
  • Available in sheet or optimized kits, with standard finishing options for maximum flexibility in production.
  • DNV certified.
