Sustainability & Responsible Sourcing

Gurit Balsaflex is produced under a robust Responsible Sourcing Policy that ensures all balsa wood originates from legal, well-managed forests.
Our sourcing program includes:

  • Commitment to environmental and social responsibility
  • Avoidance of forced or child labor and discrimination
  • Ongoing supplier risk assessment and mitigation
  • Provision of a safe and healthy work environment
  • Consultation process when working within indigenous communities
  • Transparent due diligence system with full traceability

Balsaflex production supports sustainable forestry practices in Ecuador, promoting local employment and forest preservation. Gurit empowers and supports smaller farmers with training and knowledge of profitable and sustainable forest management, providing them with a livelihood and preventing them from needing to harvest from native forests.
