Corecell™ M
The High-Performing Marine Foam
Structural SAN foam core for marine applications
Gurit Corecell M is a next-generation structural foam core, made from a SAN polymer base, developed to meet the toughest demands across all marine sectors. Combining outstanding impact resistance, fatigue performance, and reliable processing, it offers a proven solution for all marine structures.
Gurit Corecell M is the ideal core for hulls, decks, superstructures, and slamming areas. Whether using infusion, hand lamination, or prepreg methods, it provides the mechanical properties and processing reliability demanded by today’s marine industry.
Key Benefits of Corecell M
Extremely high impact resistance
High shear strength, toughness & elongation to withstand slamming, fatigue, and heavy dynamic loads
LIGHTWEIGHT STRENGTH
High shear strength with low density for optimized structural performance
Low resin absorption
Fine cell size minimizes resin uptake to reduce overall weight and cost
No outgassing
Ensures clean, reliable processing and superior part quality
High temperature processing
Suitable for processing with prepreg, allowing shorter cure cycles
Environmental stability
High tolerance for heat and chemical exposure – an excellent choice where cosmetics are critical e.g. dark colored finish
Processing and Compliance
- Compatible with epoxy, polyester, and vinyl ester resin systems.
- Processes include prepreg & SPRINT, infusion, hand lamination, and thermoforming.
- Available in sheet or pre-cut kits, with standard finishing options for maximum flexibility in production.

The Benchmark for Marine
Together with Corecell I for general-purpose structures and Corecell S for deep-water buoyancy, Corecell M completes the family of SAN cores engineered for strength, reliability, and versatility.
Case Studies
BALTIC 67 PERFORMANCE CRUISER
Baltic Yachts drew on their 48 years of design and building experience to create a full composite boat, with a glass hull and full carbon deck. From concept right through each of the build stages, they worked in conjunction with Gurit Engineering and materials supply to realise their vision. Using Gurit epoxy SPRINT™ and Corecell M foam, Baltic were able to produce a strong, lightweight structure with a significant performance edge.
Leonardo Yacht Eagle 46
The Eagle 46 was built using thermoformed Corecell M 3D core kits, reducing tooling waste and accelerating production. The pre-shaped structural foam replaced traditional strip-planking and 2D core kits, delivering a vacuum-tight surface with lower resin uptake, faster installation, and superior impact performance.
WEBBCO ELECTRIC FERRY
The southern hemisphere’s first fully electric high speed passenger ferry, Ika Rere, was launched by ferry operator East by West Ferries, in Wellington, New Zealand. It was built by the Wellington Electric Boat Building Company (WEBBCo) and includes a full package of Gurit, Hi-Panels, Corecell, PRIME resin, and analysis & structural design.
